You are bidding on an early style Korea / Vietnam war era US Army Special Forces issue parachutist equipment bag , type M-1950 .This style of General Purpose Bag was also used by conventional airborne qualified troops like the 82nd and 101st ABD. It was used for combat jumps and aerial delivery of small arms, ammunition, demolition and communications equipment . Constructed of heavy duty olive drab water repellent canvas with removable thick felt padding and dated 9/1951. T are 4 lift to dot snap closures, 3 adjustable straps for tightening the closure, 2 quick release buckles for attaching the bag to the soldier, and lowering strap attached to a bungie cord for quick release before landing. T are lifting handles on both sides of the top of the bag which measures 40 inches long X 10 inches deep X 10 inches wide. This deployment bag was fazed out and replaced in the 1960s by an inexpensive version made of thin canvas with tie downs. This is a heavy duty multi purpose gear bag suitable for special ops today. The quality and durability of this bag is something from the past and no longer manufactured. It is in unused excellent condition with some minor soiling on the outer canvas from storage.
