Up for auction is a WWII US Army Eisenhower Jacket in pristine condition. T is no wear, no tears, and no moth damage. The warrior that this belonged to was a first sergeant in the Alaska Defense Command. T's an artillery pin on the lapel along with four ribbons and a bar on the left sleeve indicating six months in combat. The shoulder patch was approved on March 24 th 1943, for the Alaska Defense Command. The bear is suggestive of the Great Bear Constellation, and the star represents the North Star. In addition, the polar bear was chosen as representative of Alaska . The bear is snarling in defiance as a warning to those who would invade his domain. Above the right breast pocket is an honorable discharge or "Ruptured Duck" patch indicating this man served his country honorably. As near as I've been able to tell, the ribbons are for: Asiatic Pacific Campaign American Campaign Good Conduct Ribbon WWII Victory Ribbon I can't find a size tag on jacket, but the blouse that came along with it is size 14/32 (check my other auctions for the blouse). The sleeve measures 23" from the shoulder, the width between the shoulders is 16" and the length of the jacket is 24". The width at the waist is 18". I'm guessing the size to be a 36R, but I could be wrong.
