This very rare United States Flag listed in this auction is the actual flag flown over the USS Arizona & the USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor last September 11, 2006. America Remembers! This quality cotton US flag is in like new condition as it was only flown over the USS Arizona & the USS Missouri once each last September 11, then carefully folded to regulation, placed in a plastic sleeve for protection with the flag flying information (lilac slip), never taken out and comes with an official Certificate of Flag Presentation from the Fleet Reserve (see all photos). The Certificate of Flag Presentation pictures the USS Arizona, the USS Missouri and the Pearl Harbor Memorial across the top. This Certificate states the following: On December 7th, 1941, World War II began when the Empire of Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. During the attack, the USS Arizona (BB-39) was sunk taking 1177 crewmen with her. To this day, these men are still interred aboard this proud battleship. In tribute to the American fighting men killed during the attack on Pearl Harbor, the national ensign flies continuously from a flagpole mounted to the USS Arizona (BB-39). On September 2nd, 1945 in Tokyo Bay, aboard the USS Missouri (BB-63), General Douglas MacArthur, Commander Allied Forces, presided over the singing of the instruments of surrender.
