This This auction is for a vintage U.S. Navy Azimuth. It is marked: Made by the Lionel Corporation (this is the American toy manufacturer known for their toy trains, from 1942 to 1945 the Lionel Corporation made nautical items for the US Navy), U.S. Navy Azimuth Circle, Mark 3 Mod. 2 Bu. Ships, an N in a circle, 8582, 1943. The circle has a mark for each 360 degrees around the edge. The Azimuth Circle looks like it has hung on a garage wall (that's w I found it) ever since the end of WWII. The brass on the under side is 50% to 30% green patina, verdigris. The top is black and shows a lot of oxidation. All the sights and mirrors move fine. The mirror has some silver off. T is one panel that has a black opaque glass in it; the glass is cracked but all t The azimuth will clean up real nice, I have not tried to clean or polish the azimuth.
