US NAVY MARK I COMBAT KNIFE WITH ORIGINAL MK 1 SCABBARD PAL RH35 's a very nice WW II vintage U.S. NAVY issue MARK I combat / utility knife with its original U.S.N. Mark I scabbard. Both knife and scabbard are in very good shape. U.S. NAVY MARK I knives were made by a variety of manufactures during WWII. This one was made by PAL Blade and Tool Company of Plattsburg, New York. MARKINGS: The Knife is ricasso marked U.S.N. over MARK I on the obverse and RH PAL-35 on the reverse. The Scabbard is marked U.S.N. MK 1 on the obverse, and NORD - 8114 over B.M. Co. 1/2 vp on the reverse. CONDITION: T are no serious condition issues. Both knife and scabbard have certainly been used, but t are no signs of abuse. The blade has been properly and carefully sharpened, and t are no nicks in the edge. The finish on the blade has thinned out, especially as you move toward the tip, but given the considerable original machine marks that remain from when the blade was ground, the thin finish is just from honest use. The leather washer handle has a few light scuff marks and a shallow dent or two, but is otherwise in excellent smooth, un-frayed condition. All joints between the leather washers and the Black, Red and Yellow fiber washers are as tight.as new, as is the pinned aluminum Pommel. The Scabbard is also in great condition. It bears a few scratches from being carried, but t are no splits, chips or nicks, and the web hanger and snap are very sound. This MARK I Knife and MK 1 Scabbard are both in great shape!
