This auction is for a 9 inch diameter wall clock with a 7 inch diameter face that features the insignia of US Naval Construction Battalion Seven (see below for the history of this great unit). The clock body is plastic and has a satin navy blue finish. The hands are gold-tone and t is a sweep second hand. The clock runs on a single AA battery (not included). The clock does have a clear plastic lens which was removed to reduce glare when the listing photo was taken.

The Story of "Super Seven"

MCB Seven was established and commissioned at Davisville , Rhode Island on August 15, 1951. LCDR Robert F Smart, CEC, was the Commanding Officer. Throughout the 1950s the battalion deployed for assignments in Port Lyautey, French Morocco; Guantanamo Naval Base, Cuba; Argentia, Newfoundland; Cape Hatteras, North Carolina; and at the Naval Facility at Barbados in the West Indies .

During the 1960s MCB 7 took on many more critical challenges, and earned awards for effectiveness and efficiency. Deployments included Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico; with a detachments to Trinidad and St. Thomas , U S Virgin Islands. The battalion was again employed at Guantanamo Bay , Cuba several times during this decade. Detachments were sent to Bermuda and Argentia , Newfoundland . They accepted assignments at Camp LeJeune , North Carolina . and Rota , Spain . A detachment in 1963 saw the first SeaBees set foot on the soil of Gura , Ethiopia . During a subsequent deployment to Rosey Roads, detachments worked on projects at Viegues Island , St. Thomas V.I. and Holy Loch, Scotland.

From June, 1967 until June, 1970 MCB 7 was headquartered in Vietnam supporting combat operations. In August of 1970, the battalion was disestablished at Davisville R.I. . In a subsequent realignment of Navy Construction Battalion resources, NCMB 7 was reestablished at Gulfport Mississippi which remains its home port today.
