Flag measures 42" by 72". The following details are aided by an assessment I paid for from David Martucci a vexillologist. Appears to be wool with cotton stars appliqued on each side of canton. A canvas header with a braided rope set into it. Machine sewn and the unhemmed stars are sewn in a pentagon pattern. It has some small holes and tears but generally is in good condition. It is tattered on the top and bottom of the edge opposite the header. Contact me for more details. This flag belonged to my grandfather Conrad W. Ljungquist born in Sweden in1867. He served in the US Navy from 1884 to 1924. He served on Admiral Dewey's flagship the Olympia in the battle of Manilla Bay. The ship is now a museum in Philadelphia and his name is listed as aChief Gunners mate. He also served and has medals from Phillipine Insurection 1899-1903, China Relief Expedition 1901, Mexico 1911-1917, Nicaragua Campaign 1912, Atlantic Fleet Great War for Civilization.
