This is a World War II era navigation device called a Star Finder and Identifier. It was specially used in aircraft to plot the course to be taken.... The cover of this item reads: U.S. Navy Hydrographic Office, Star Finder and Identifier No. 2102-C, A-N Type 1.... This item also comes with an instruction sheet that gives a description of this item and its contents and it reads. This device is designed especially for use of aircraft. It gives the positions of all the stars included in both the American and British Air Almanacs, and may be used either for identifying or spotting stars. It consists of a Star Base with the northern sky on one side and the southern on the other, seven (7) templates centered at 10 degree intervals of latitude, this instruction card, and a leattte container. Published by the Hydrographic Office, Washington D.C., March 1942 under the authority of the Secretary of Navy.....The other side of the instruction sheet has the information on how to use this device....
