Here is something you don't see everyday. I found this in a box under a pile of stuff that I picked many years ago and did not know I had. This is a President Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial Stamp Collection published in 1946. This collection also contains a stamp from the Presidents own personnel stamp collection that has a hinge and is authenticated. Amazing to think that FDRs DNA might be on the back of the hinge. I have thousands of stamps, FDCs and other types of covers I will be listing over this year and the next. I COMBINE SHIPPING ON MY AUCTIONS SO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT AND SAVE YOURSELF MONEY.
This is a really solid looking collection with so much more then is in the photographs here. The items are in a three ring binder and there are thirty pages of text about the president and stamp collecting with no pages of text missing. There is a B&W photograph here that you see in the first photograph courtesy of the Associated Oil Company and some stamps are in the photo as well. The second photo here I think tells the story of this 2 cent Harding stamp that as you can read was taken from the President own personnel collection and with the original hinge no less. AGAIN, this stamp was owned by FDR, how amazing is that?
24 different First Day covers are in here, Anderson C, Art Craft, Fleetwood, Flugel and other FDC makers are represented here. I love the large Fleetwood FDC in the fourth photograph dated 1946 that books for about $8.00. USA stamps are here along with stamps and sheets from other countries. There is an amazing looking lot from Cuba as well as countries such as Columbia, Ecuador, Greece, Monaco, San Marino, Turkey and other countries as well. Some of the FDCs have aged and some look amazing and very fresh, the stamps all look sold with most of the stamps being hinged but there are never hinged stamps here as well. A very hard to find lot that is priced to sell.
