The United States Air Force will turn 60 in September of 2007 and for 60 years USAF Police personnel have provided Security, Law Enforcement, Air Base Defense, and much more for personnel, installations, and all of the assets of the USAF. Over this 60 year span the USAF Police have undergone several name changes yet the mission and the professionalism of these dedicated airmen/women has never waivered and they have achieved a remarkable record of service. The first USAF Defenders in 1947 were Army Air Force MP's and over the years we have seen the name change to Air Police, Security Police, and we have evolved into today's "elite Blue Berets" the USAF Security Forces. Celebrate the 60th Birthday of the USAF and the USAF Police by wearing or displaying these patches proudly.
