's an excellent CWU-45/P flight jacket made of 100% fire resistant Aramid (Nomex) in size small (36 - 38" chest) by Greenbrier Industries, Inc.. The CWU-45/P (MIL-J-83388) has been the standard issue summer flyers jacket for USAF, USN, and USMC aviators since the late 1970s, and remains one of the most popular, attractive, and comfortable modern military flight jackets available. This particular jacket is a 1978 vintage MIL-J-83388A type with gusseted shoulders (a.k.a. pleated back), which in addition to being extremely hard to find are also the most comfortable version of these jackets! This jacket was owned by a USAF airman and spent more than 1000 flight hours in C-130s and C-141s in a wide range of missions all over the world including Europe, Iceland, Central America, the Carribean, and the Middle East. As such, instead of just hanging around in a closet, this jacket has seen a lot of places and a lot of action including Desert Storm. As can be seen in the photos, the Nomex fabric outer shell and inner liner have no holes, tears, or pulls. All of the seams are secure and the knit waistband and cuffs are snug with only minimal pilling. The jacket is clean, odor free, and retains its original, heavy-duty 'Scovill' zippers and Nomex pull, which work smoothly. The velcro attachments for a squardron patch on the right sleeve, command patch on the right chest, and name tag on the left chest were carefully removed by the original owner, but can be replaced if desired using the former placements as a guide. Overall, the jacket is 100% original and intact, and in excellent condition. The jacket is authentic USAF issue by a respected DOD contractor; it is not a replica or cheap nylon immitation.
