An outstanding United States Marine Corps, Naval Aviators, MIA, KIA, Vietnam War Medal Group, to Captain William Marshall Price, USMCR.. William Marshall Price was born 24 August 1945, a graduate of Wethersfield and Northwester Illinois University, De Kalb, Illinois.. W. M. Price, joined the the Marine Corps after his graduation, [from the above] and was later commissioned a 2 ND Lt.. After his commission 2 ND Lt. William Marshall Price, proceeded to Bombardier / Navigator school and trained in A6 & A6-A aircraft.. He was later assigned to VMA (AW) 332, [ Marine All Weather Attack Squadron 332] flying A6-A aircraft, from August 1971 to June 1972 and later he transferring to VMA (AW) 533, an A6-A Squadron Based at Nam Phong, Thailand.. 2ND Lt. Price, was reported MIA on 12 October 1972, at 2:30 A.M. The Western Union Telegram / Telex addressed to his parents reads, "I deeply regret to confirm that your son, First Lieutenant William M. Price, USMCR, Has been reported as missing in action since 2:30 A.M. on 12 October 1972 when the last radio contact was made with his aircraft in the vicinity of Dong Hoi, North Vietnam. He was flying as the Navigator of an A6-A aircraft on a Night Mission when Radio and Radar Contact were lost. Search and rescue operations were immediately initiated and are still in progress.
