This plexiglass license plate tag came out of USMC Colonel Samuel A. Simmons footlocker. He was in command of Provost Marshall office at the Marine Corps Air Station in Miami, Florida. His office was responsible for issuing base license tags. Included is an article dated 10/30/1952 from the Opa-Locka Leathernecks newspaper. The condition is excellent with some light surface scratches. The pictures have some light glare to them. Its just in the pictures. It measures 15" by 4" with a thickness of 1/4". I think the star is for a general but am not sure. Maybe its a common marking. What ever the case it is authentic. In the coming days I will be listing many more items belonging to this officer. Please email any questions.
