Learning from experience at Tarawa, the US Marine Corps redesigned its combat uniforms to allow Marines in amphibious assaults to "fight out of their pockets" if web gear and packs needed to be discarded. The P-44 "frogskin" camo combat shirt incorporated large, snap entry chest pockets for flotation devices, grenades, rations, or extra ammo. Fully reversible from a green "jungle" side to a brown "beach" side, the P-44 frogskin camo combat shirt quickly became symbolic of the hard fighting Leatherneck of the Pacific War. This USMC Marine US WW2 P-44 FROGSKIN CAMO HBT FIELD COMBAT SHIRT is in very good condition, with some light spot soiling and surface nicking at the front left and right hem, a small line of surface "running" at the front right hem, some spot soiling and light surface nicking at the lower middle front, some small spots of residue at the right sleeve, some scattered surface nicking at the lower back, a small frayed spot and some light surface nicking at the back of the left sleeve, some light surface nicking at the back of each sleeve, some light scuffing and patina to the "glove" snap at the right chest, and with some scattered spot soiling, surface nicking, and age wear evident (some pictured).
