Another piece from my personal collection. This is a ULTRA RARE Marine Corps Enlisted Full Dress Blouse complete with ORIGINAL banjo shoulder boards. Please see all of the photos and if you need a photo of something specific, just ask. The last photo is of a Marine circa 1900 aboard the USS Galena wearing the same blouse while sitting in the ships mess hall. This blouse is clearly quartermaster marked and dated 1898-1899 and marked size 3L. This is truly a Spanish American War, Boxer Rebellion, Phillipine Insurrection, Samoa Campaign Piece! Tunic is named to "LEWIS" and has a former owners name "REAMER" blacked out as can be seen in the photos. All buttons are matching, marked Horstmann Philadelphia and do not appear to have ever been removed or resewn. The shoulderboards are original to the tunic and the attaching devices are sewn on with a gut type thread that appears to be 100+ years old.The collar is the low, curved style with red edging. The remains of the leather keeper is still attached inside. Condition of the wool is outstanding for its age. I see some VERY minor moth tracking and t and only 1 actual moth hole below the bottom which you don't notice with the blouse buttoned. This is an absolutely fabulous early Marine Corps item that will certainly be the centerpiece of any USMC collection.
