I ring made out of USN pilot wings belonging to USMC aviator Robert Whiting. The wings are a larger size and fit a man's finger. I believe they were his. The wings are well worn and marked on the inside STER and what looks to be +1/20??? The posts were cut off and then the wings bent. These may be late WWII or post WWII. Whiting was a USMC aviator with VMF-321 flying F-4U Corsairs. He fought in the Solomons and was awarded the Air Medal for combat over Rabaul, shooting down a Japanese airplane. After the war he entered the reserves and flew F9F Tigercats. It is possible the ring is from this period. In a previous auction I sold his Air Medal, Ribbons and Dog Tag. I will include photo copies of his military, photo copy of him by his Corsair, and a copy of the title page of his F7F training manual with his name on it. Sold as is. Normal wear and tear associated with age. No refunds. Free shipping. Thanks for looking.
