PACK IS COMPLETE WITH ALL ACCESSORIES ATTACHED. ILBE IMPROVED LOAD BEARING EQUIPMENT :The ILBE Improved Load Bearing Equipment is a load carrying system designed to provide a durable and lightweight means for deployed U.S. Marines to transport individual combat clothing and equipment. It is intended to replace the Molle Module Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment. ILBE developed from U.S. Marine Corps dissatisfaction with the Molle Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment. Evolutionary changes in MOLLE were not sufficient to meet Marines' requirements, so in 2003 the USMC investigated two new pack designs to upgrade the MOLLE in response to complaints about the original version. The selected designs were provided by commercial vendors Bianchi (Gregory) and Propper International (Arc'teryx). Major proposed improvements over the Molle Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment. Included durability, comfort of wear, reduced system complexity, reduced system weight and sustainability, and greater integration with the Outer Tactical Vest (OTV) of the Intercepter Multi-Threat Body Armor System. Compared to MOLLE, the ILBE can more easily be configured for the mission at hand and to maximize the mobility, survivability, and lethality of the Marine in combat environments. Revised features of ILBE include: • The ability to carry 120 pounds. • Pack size to be no larger than 6000 cubic inches. The two new packs that were tested featured internal frames and were somewhat lighter with a much simpler design than the Marines' MOLLE pack. Arc'teryx weighed eight pounds four ounces and carried 5,000 cubic inches while the Gregory weighed nine pounds 10 ounces and carried 4,520 cubic inches. Field User Evaluation was conducted January through June 2003 when nine hundred systems from each vendor were tested across Marine units. Biomechanical testing was conducted at U.S. Army Soldier Systems at Natick, MA who also compared the performance of the ILBE candidates to the MOLLE system. Improved Load Bearing Equipment (ILBE) Selected and Approved on 15 January 2004 the ILBE design was approved and scheduled for procurement as a direct replacement for the MOLLE Modular Lightweight Load Carrying Equipment. The selected design was a modified Arc'teryx Bora 95 pack. During fielding, MOLLE and even the aging Alice, or ALL-Purpose Lightweight Indicidual Carrying Equipment, remained in service as the ILBE was phased in. By March 2006, over 96,000 ILBE had been fielded. Ultimately 238,000 ILBE packs suppliled active duty Marines plus additional packs for reservists. The backpack is made from Cordura 725 denier fabric, with MARPAT digital camouflage. The pack is covered with a PALS grid (Pouch Attachment Ladder system), for the attachment of smaller modular pouches. Since the rucksack was the first part of the program issued to Marines, the ILBE Main ruck is commonly referred to as simply "ILBE." The ILBE can hold up to 120 pounds and has room for 60mm and 81mm mortar rounds outside the main pack. The ILBE was designed to help Marines shoulder burden and make it easier on their backs. The shoulder straps and waistband are heavily padded for maximum load carrying capability. Straps are adjustable with quick release buckles. The ILBE weighs 8.43 pounds and has a 6,000 cubic inch capacity, holds up to 120 pounds, and has room for 60 & 81 mm mortar rounds outside the main pack. This huge ILBE is approximately 32” high, and 16” wide at extended capacity. The waistband expands to nearly 50 inches, and can be lengthened more with an extension adapter not included. The Individual Hydration System & Attachable Combat Assault Pack are NOT INCLUDED. SHIPPED VIA UPS GROUND OR U.S. PRIORITY MAIL. PAYMENT DUE WITHIN 7 DAYS. PAYPAL PAYMENTS ARE PREFERRED.
