USS INDEPENDENCE, CV-62 This is a black wool cruise jacket (Marines call them Tour jackets) from the 1984 - 85 Med Cruise. This version has two button down chest pockets and 2 side slash pockets with regular collar. I couldn't find a size, but I would guess a medium. It is lined in black nylon and the lining has no rips or tears or anything wrong that I could find. The zipper works great and all the buttons are on the cuffs and pockets. On the right sleeve t is a sewn-on 6 th Fleet Patch. It has the double dragon liberty patch sewn into the inside of each cuff, so that you have to roll the cuff up to see the patches. Above the right pockets a "ACE of Hearts high" deck of cards; on the R. pocket is Popeye; on the left pocket is ship's wheel compass and the name RICH; above that are crossed American and Italian flags. RICH is embroidered on and the rest are embroidered patches. The back is all embroidered and it does not come through to the lining. In the center t is an eagle with spread wings over an American flag. USS INDEPENDENCE (CV-62) is emblazoned across the shoulders. RICH was apparently from Maryland. The 1984 - 1985 Cruise apparently toured the Mediterranean and Indian Oceans with stopovers in Italy, Spain, Israel, Kenya and the Suez Canal. These are wonderful jackets. They are perfect for read more
