USS Ranger CVA-61, WestPac Tour 1961-62 cruisebook, 350 plus pages, hundreds of photos, excellent condition. An interesting note is that at this time the Ranger was commanded by Capt. William Leonard who had been assigned to an earlier USS Ranger CV-4 (1938) & during WWII had seen combat on the USS Yorktown, Enterprise & Hornet in The Battles of The Coral Sea, Midway & Guadalcanal (a brave man!) Beautiful photos from stops in San Francisco, Hawaii, Tokoyo, Yokosuka, Okinawa, Kobe, Sasebo, Iwakuni, Beppu & Hong Kong. Great photos of the Seagoing USMC detachment, the MAA detachment & the squadrons - VF-91 Red Lightnings, VF-92 Silver Kings, VA-93 Ravens, VA-94 Shrikes, VA-95 Lizards & VAH-6 Flying Fleurs. The Flying Fleurs, VAH-6, is a heavy bomber squadron! Wouldn't Jimmy Doolittle be proud? They also had a electronic warfare squadron, VAW-11 DET-M. This cruisebook has some of the finest US Naval Aviation photos you will find!A kind ebayer just reminded me that there is an unused sound recording in a slipcover attached to the inside of the back cover. Thanks!
