I am listing several issues of the publication "USSR in Construction" from the mid-1930s. They all measure 11 7/8" x 16 3/8" in size with varying numbers of pages. Condition varies because these were kept over the years in less than ideal circumstances. Mostly this involves soiling and surface loss to the covers which are made of different paper stock than the interior pages. I will point out any flaws but these are 80 years old and have wear from age and use. Any colored illustrations are tipped in but the photography throughout is duotone in different colors. There are many creative and stunning layouts, sometime with foldouts, and all with fantastic photographs of the lands of the people and their endeavors. These made the Soviet Union look very attractive indeed but one must keep in mind that during this period millions were being shipped off to the Gulags. This issue is February 1935 with some surface loss to the front and back covers. Upper corner missing from back cover and there is something stuck on in spots (not food) left of center, also on the back cover. There are several foldouts including a double page spread that folds out 3 panels each side of center. Each separate issue has a theme and this one is on "Kuzbass" with 32 pages. The Kuzbass region is rich in coal and iron ore with those extractive industries prevalent. read more
