UVF Motor Car Corps Badge - UVF, Ulster Volunteer, Somme, WW1, Orange Order

UVF MOTOR CAR CORPS BADGE (Replica Pin Badge)

Arguably the most innovative part of the anti Home Rule army that was the UVF - its Motor Car Corps. Formed in October 1913 at the suggestion of the Ulster Volunteer Transport Board. It is famous for being the first time in teh world that the motor car was used in a large scale military operation - the Larne Gunrunning of April 1914.

This rare badge was produced to celebrate the centenary of the Corps. It is 35mm high and unlike the vast majority of badges available it is gold plated and cut out. Very rare.
