This is a TUBE SOCKET ADAPTER KIT MX-1258/U s/n C309 manufactured for the Navy Department Bureau of Ships by Industrial Electronic Hardware Corp. probably in the ealy 1960's. As shown in photo-1, it consists of a set of nine adapter sockets representing variants of vacuum-tube bases and provides measuring points for metering the tube parameters while the tube is operating in the circuit. Along the way, someone added two additional adapter sockets, shown to the left, one for CRTs and one for transistors/diodes. These additional sockets also store inside the case. It also has two permanently mounted pin-straighteners for 7 & 9 pin-base miniature tubes. Photo-2 shows two adapters and the metering contact arrangement. Photo-3 is the operating manual, and photo-4 the cover/name-plate. CONDITION: The unit is in overall EXCELLENT conditon. The outer case shows the usual mild storage scuff-marks, but is free of dents and scratches. The adapters themselves show very little evidence of use. The manual is free of stains and tears.
