Early Lorelei Vase by Van Briggle You are bidding on a beautiful Lorelei vase inspired by the legendary Siren of the Rhine River and createdcirca 1900. The origin of Lorelei is based on the story of a Siren who haunted a boulder near the shores of the Rhine River. It was said that her songs were so enchanting that sailors failed to steer their ships and were ultimately led to their demise. Lorelei depicts a mermaid around the top rim of a vase and her body wraps around the remaining portion. This is one of Van Briggle's most famous pieces. The vase is in mulberry glaze and tan clay of the 1920's. It stands 9 ¾ inches high. It is in excellent condition. T is a blue line in the glaze, it is not a crack. T are no cracks or chips. T is the logo, VAN BRIGGLE, and Colo Spgs on the bottom. Although we will take great care in packaging this item, we highly recommend purchasing shipping insurance. All sales are final. Please read the description and ask questions before bidding. Thank you!
