California artist Van Hoople was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1934. He attended the University of Texas where he majored in fine arts. He then attended the Art Center in Los Angeles. He refined his artistic skill when he was hired by Paramount Studios in Hollywood. He apprenticed for Cecil B. DeMilles scenic art director, P T Blackburn. He was under exclusive contract with Hillside Galleries starting in 1957. His expressive works have achieved notable recognition throughout the United States.
