Adriaen van Ostade (1610 – 1685) Painter and Etcher of The Golden Age. Slaughter the Hog - Pig Killers, Etched by David Deuchar after Adrian Van Ostade, Etching on wove paper and printed 1803 in Scotland , measuring 5.25 by 4.5 inches and is in fair condition. There is a slight watermark (light stain on the bottom of the frame) According to Houbraken, he and his brother were pupils of Frans Hals and like him, spent most of their lives in Haarlem. He was the eldest son of Jan Hendrix Ostad, a weaver from the town of Ostade . H e became a pupil in 1627 of the portrait painter Frans Hals at that time the master of Adrian Bower and Jan Molenaer .
