About the Torch: The 2010 torch design features a simplistic yet classical design that was conceived in collaboration with the Olympic committee in charge of setting up the Vancouver 2010 torch relay and the committee entrusted with the planning of the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic winter games. The torch is made from stainless steel and aluminum, weighs 2.8 pounds, measures a bit over 37 inches in height, and burns for about 15 minutes. One of the prerequisites the torch designers had to master was the ability to maintain a steady burn, no matter what the weather conditions might be. At the same time, the flame has to be highly visible in even the worst snow storms.
