This is a super nice... three footed Covered Butter Dish... in that always popular... and very collectable... Vaseline Glass. It stands about 6 inches tall with the Cover on... and 7 and 3/4 inches across the base. It appears to be in excellent condition. I should also mention that this Vaseline Glass in highly fluorescent when placed under the Black Light. This pattern is called "Creases"... and I don't know why!!!... Usually the name of a pattern reflects... to some degree... what the pattern looks like. But with this pattern... I can't see any correlation!!!... I do know however... that this was an old Cambridge Glass Company pattern... and Cambridge Glass has been closed for many years. But again... I don't have any information on this glass maker... when they were in production... or when this piece might have been made. I guess the new owner will have to continue the search for information. Heck... that's half the fun of collecting... the searching for unusual pieces... the acquisition... and the researching their history!!!... Just a super unusual Butter Dish... that I think would make a nice Covered Cheese Dish... Nut Bowl... or even a shallow Covered Candy Bowl.
