Viet Minh - Viet Cong - VC Vietnam War Propaganda Poster " NGUYEN QUOC TRI " Towards the latter part of the Vietnam War ( American War ) the Viet Cong released a very limited ( 100 ) photos of 'Heroes of the Revolution'. They were given to very senior members of the Communist Party and the National Liberation Front. These gloss photo's measured 9 x 5 inches. There were 35 photo's in the 'Heroes' series. In 1977, a series of posters, taken directly from the photo's were released in a large book, again 35 pictures, this time with a release of 500. These gaain were presented to senior party members in Hanoi, Saigon and Da Nang. This piece is one of the latter, 1977 pieces. They are extremely rare and I have managed to only find one book, I doubt if I will locate another. " Nguyen Quoc Tri was born in 1921 and was combating the French prior to WWII. Captured with his brother he was imprisoned in 1942. They both led a prison break in 1944 forming a combat unit that commenced actions against both the Japanese and the French. By the end of WWII his team was responsible for numerous successful assaults. As leader of a Viet Minh unit he was responsible for the division of a French Battalion, leading the attached Vietnamese to the Viet Minh side.
