Vendo 39 Coca Cola Vending Machine Manufactured March 5th & 6th, 1951 Complete and with almost all Original parts. In the late 70's or early 80's I was rooting around in an old auto parts yard in the Pine Barrens of Southern New Jersey. I opened the rear doors of a 1950's Panel truck and t was this Coke machine neatly tucked inside lying on its back. I decided to ask old George the owner how much he wanted for it. By his confused expression, I realized that he didn't even know that he had a Coke machine somew among his stuff. After I dragged him out to w the truck sat rusting behind some trees, he got on me for wasting my time and money on things like this when I could be fixing actual cars. Eventually, the businessman in him took over, though, and we made a deal for the unit. I don't remember how I managed to drag it out of that truck and haul it back home. I quickly found out that the cooling system had a Freon leak and that I couldn't buy the 6 1/2 ounce bottles for it anymore. The machine became just a display piece in my house. Eventually it made its way to the basement w it has patiently sat for the last 20 years. It needs a new home, now, and it's time to sell it. are the particulars: I recently repaired the leak. I found that someone had cut off a connector at the end of a tee in the copper line. It has been sealed, the compressor has been charged with Freon 12 and the system now holds the charge. It can cool the interior of the machine down to at least 20 degrees F. It has a problem in that the unit will reach its set temperature and shut down, but then it has trouble restarting until the parts around the thermostat cool down enough to allow it to restart. It may be just that the old starter for the compressor is weakening or the freon system may need to be balanced better. The compressor and fan seem to run pretty quietly and efficiently. The coin slot takes Dimes. The mechanism worked smoothly the last time that I tried it. The door for the money section has a lock. I had a key made for it right after I bought the machine. On a plate on the left side of the exterior is the Model Number: F39BGK and the Serial Number: F30135246. T are 2 holes drilled at an even spacing below the plate. T might have been a sign or accessory attached to it at one time. T is a sticker attached to the right side of the exterior. It says "For Repairs call Normandy 3-5060. Cooler Department. The Camden Coca Cola Bottling Co." The words "Drink Coca Cola in Bottles" are in red raised letters above the white upper surface on the front. Silver tape serves as the dividing line between the white and red portions of the machine. It seems to be sticking pretty well after all these years. The rear ducting cover on the lower back of the exterior is missing. This may be the only part that the whole Coke Machine doesn't have. It is basically a flat plate attached by 8 screws over the compressor cooling coils near the bottom of the machine. The installation instructions say that it was used to protect against the weather when the machine was placed outdoors. It may have been only an optional part. The spring that holds the bottle door is still in good shape. The rubber gasket material on the inside of the door seems to be flaking due to age. In the interior, the number 1637 has been stenciled on in gray paint. This was probably the Camden Bottling Company's tracking number for the machine. On the inside of the door is stamped "March 5 1951". On the steel base panel on the inside is stamped "March 6 1951". The electrical wire was surely not the original. It has a 3 pronged grounded, molded-in plug with the word "Craftsman" on it. It's in good shape and heavy duty. I might have used it from an old Sears power tool when I first got the Coca Cola machine. T is a round decal on the inside which reads: "Listed Under UL Reexamination Service of Underwriters Laboratories". The metal label on the Compressor identifies it as being built by Nash Kelvinator Corp...
