@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ One of the most alluring examples of the skilled Venetian glass terrerae mosaic works is discovered within the 2 1/2" x 3/8" of the late 1880's pendant presented in: The intricate micro glass tiles are of greens, blues, peach, red, wine and white. Precise cut of each tiny tile was completed in such a manner as to result in a shimmering appearance of the insets. Insets are in within a frame of 2 1/2" in length; 3/8" in width and a cupped 1/4" in depth. The entire oblong pendant possesses a step up with a fine rolled/ribbed border, Within this border the eight individual settings of the terrerae rests in their profound intricate beauty. They sit in micro-rolled gold frames as tiny portraits of a shell wings of a butterfly, , paisley and defined circular star centered designs. The back of pendant is of solid silver with gold overlay....as are other components of the pendant. Hallmarks on backside display "V" and "S"....denoting Venice and the craftsman of the era.....ca: late 1800's. Additional intricate hallmarks are found at beaded edges of the pendant. The pendant originally was in the form of a brooch and further hallmarks appeared at one time upon the clasp.
