VERA LYNN. Signature: "Sincerely Yours/Vera Lynn", 3x1½. British vocalist Vera Lynn (b. 1917) was the host of the BBC radio program Sincerely Yours that was popular with overseas WWII servicemen who missed their girlfriends. Her heartsick ballads included "White Cliffs of Dover", "We'll Meet Again", "Wishing" and "Yours". Lynn also made several films during the war years, and appeared in a stage revue and sang for troops in Asia before retiring. Two years later, she returned to the spotlight and continued recording into the 1980s. She was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1969 and a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1975 .
