This is a truly stunning piece of Verlys glass. It is in their blue 'Alpine Thistle' pattern and bears the molded signature on the inside of the vase together with the etched Verlys on the outside, which indicates it is a French piece made in Rouen, France. (The American pieces have just the diamond etched name.) The color of this lovely vase is a lighter cobalt blue shade combining frosted glass and clear glass. The color is exceptionally rich and vibrant. While their crystal etched clear color is the most often seen, some of the most desirable pieces were made in color.
The vase measures a tad over 9-1/2" and 7-1/2" in diameter (flower to flower). The base of this piece has damage. T are three areas w the rim is chipped. One area is more damaged than the other two. The base needs to be smoothed or reground but it is certainly worth the investment as this vase sells for $600. and higher if perfect. Actually the top portion is so eye-catching that you can leave it as is and it would make a fabulous piece to display alone on with a display of flowers. The rest of the piece is excellent with no chips nicks or damage or repair. The rim is perfect. I did a Google search on the internet and found a piece that had a damaged base and was selling for $495. I am offering this vase with no reserve. The weight of just the vase is almost 6 pounds so boxed and package it will be 8-9 pounds. Shipping will range from $15. - $21. USPS parcel post. Insurance is additional which will range from $2.05 for the first $100. Your chance to have this incredible French Verlys masterpiece as part of your collection.
