Around 1969 he moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where he lived for three or four years painting snowscapes and mountain scenery. Then back to the sea. In his final nine years Vernon built, lived and worked in his ideal gallery/home on the ocean front at Mendocino, California.
