Up for auction tonight I have a very nice cast metal mechanical bank. It is called a Â"Destination MoonÂ" bank. IÂ'm fairly certain that this was made in recognition of the start of the race to the moon between the USA and the Soviets. Just about the time of the first Apollo spaceships. This is indeed a rare one, not seen very often anyw, especially in this condition. Everything on it looks new and unused. It could probably use a light wiping down. I do notice a bit of surface scratches on the base on one side. The mechanism which fires the coin into the moon globe works. I tried it a couple of times and it hit perfectly in the slot. I have a key for it which works but is probably not the original. Written on the inside is: Model 1000 Destination Moon Bank; 1 st US Direct Hit April 26, 1962; Duro Mold and Mfg, Inc. Detroit 34 Mich. Canadian PatÂ'd 25826 Other Countries Pend. It stands an impressive 10 1⁄2Â" tall. Believe me, you will be very pleased with this one. I will take money orders, personal checks, (only with 25+ feedback rating), cash, certified checks, or Paypal, which is preferred and much faster and secure than the mail service. I do not make money off of packing or shipping costs incurred by using bubble wrap, tape, etc. I always use bubble wrap, except on paper articles which are secured in paper and placed between 2 sheets of cardboard and mailed in an yellow envelope. If I sell an item which has the original box with it, the winner will pay for shipping of the box completely separate from the toy itself. I have purchased items before on Ebay with their original box only to find upon receipt that the fragile box was very damaged. Believe me, itÂ's much better this way, and well worth the $3 extra. Please note that even though an item sells for less than $100, I still recommend adding in the appropriate amount for insurance and Delivery Confirmation.
