PRESENTING A VERY EARLY 1800s PRIMITIVE WIDE PINE DEACONS BENCH 6 FT What a great find! Presenting a Very Early, Primitive WIDE Pine Plank Deacons Bench. Circa EARLY 1800s (very possibly late 1700s), this 75 inch long Pine bench is in Excellent, Solid condtion. Featuring a perfectly aged appearance & texture that only Father Time could create.... Have a look at the wonderful Hand Pegged, Raised Panel Sides- done completely by hand of course. Naturally washed pine grain character, Remnants of old colored paints (milk paint?) in just the right places really add the the authentic antique patina. The panels are hand beaded on the insides, as is the edge of the Very WIDE, Pine Plank back boards. Boards of this width were cut from 300 to 400 year old Pine trees, that were part of Americas original, Primordial old growth forests. And they were cut down 200 years ago- that would make the wood 500 years old or more! The hand pegged, tradtional Mortise & Tenon Joinery is just amazing to view up close. Two inch Thick serpentine arms have a great reddish paint on them. The seat slants back, as does the back itself, making for comfortable, proper seating. This great early bench is just full of authentic Hand tooled, traditional country woodworking details- I discover something new every time I look at it! Measures 75 inches long, 21 inches deep & 36 inches high. Seat plank is 16 inches wide & about 17-18 inches from the ground.
