Also if you see more than one item you like, we give great combined shipping deals, always at least 50% lower for the second item and even lower for more items. ITEM: Up for auction is a Very Early and Unusual Continental Solid Silver Rattle Top Spoon. The Spoon is part of a Large Collection of Silver and other Fine Quality Estate items up for auction, as you can see in the last pictures. The Spoon is part of a group of Early Silver listed from my Parents Estate and Collection. I do not know a great deal about the Spoon, and have never seen another example quite like it. I believe the Spoon is Very Early, I am sure safely 18thc, but possibly even much earlier. The Spoons design dates back as far as the 16thc. I have seen simular 16th, and 17th century examples with Apostle and Seal Tops, but not with a Rattle like this. As you can see the Spoon has a large rounded bowl, and twisted handle. The Spoon also has a Ball Top that Rattles, which would indicate it is an early Baby Spoon/Rattle. The Spoon shows signs of its early age throughout. The Spoon could use a cleaning, but we like to leave everything 100% original. The Spoon does have small dints throughout the bowl which could be smoothed out if desired, but for its age is in very nice original condition with no cracks, or repairs. The Spoon measures 5 1/2 inches long, by 2 1/8 inches wide. The Spoon weights 25 grams. The Spoon does have one hallmark on the back, which is possibly a crossed keys hallmark, but I am not possitive. I believe the Spoon would be Dutch or German in origin. The Spoon does test to be at least 800 grade Solid Silver throughout. If the Spoon is infact an 16th, or 17thc example it could be worth quite an exceptional amount, well worth looking into. I do know it may be some time before you see another example quite like it, and starting low with No Reserve. As usual we just start all our items off low, and will let you decide. Like a Real Auction should be!! The Very Early Continental Solid Silver Rattle Top Spoon would make a great addition to any collection, and I am sure is also a fine investment piece.
