I am piecing out some of my personal collection. This is an late 1800, early 1900, pipe axe . The stem is hand filed, file branded, and tacked with over eighty individual brass tacks. The patina is remarkable, as can be seen in the photographs, and the balance of this piece, as an axe, is unbelievable. The head of this particular piece is 10" long with, with the cutting edge measuring 3". The total length of the axe is 18 1/4". This pipe is museum quality and appears to be all original. The piece is very tight fitting and all tacks are completely in tact. T is a very small crack in the mouthpiece (which didn't show up well even in the high resolution photographs), which follows the grain of the wood, but this is to be expected with the age of such a pipe. The original photos that I had taken of the pipe were all in very high resolution, and display the pipe in exquisite detail. I would be happy to e-mail these photos or send you a CD with these high resolution pix via fed ex if requested (serious bidders only please!). Out of the three axes I have owned in the past, this one by far and away is the finest of the three. I prefer receiving payment via money order or check, but will take pay pal if necessary, and will ship the axe as soon as I receive payment. Happy bidding!
