A 3&11/16"x1&1/2" Sonora chert point that was either an Early Archaic Thebes or Big Sandy that was salvaged out by a later culture--Hopewell would be my guess. They kept the same general base style, but re-touched damage on one shoulder--you can see it doesn't round-out as much as the opposite shoulder. If the basal edge polish doesn't show in the photos please Email for a close-up--t is super heavy polish on the basal lobes; this isn't just light grinding, it's actual polish, and it covers over what had to be Early Archaic usage damage. That's what makes this big point so hard to identify. The finder walked fields in the Hancock-Daviess County,Kentucky Ohio river bottomalnds, but he didn't mark it for which county he found it in. The only modern damage is on the outer edge of the larger basal lobe, a very sharp edge chip. It's an interesting old piece, guaranteed authentic, as described
