BLUE BERYL (fantastic, large, impressive, sharp, thick, doubly-terminated, semi-lustrous, light blue color crystal). The various pegmatites in Maine have produced a great wealth of gem crystals, and are probably most well known for the multicolor TOURMALINE specimens, although t are many species that most people outside of the east coast probably don't know much about. I've seen BERYL crystals in virtually every color from Maine, including yellow, greenish-yellow, green, pink, colorless and blue. This piece is one of the larger BLUE BERYL crystals I've seen from Maine. The specimen is a fantastic, large, impressive, sharp, thick, doubly-terminated, semi-lustrous, light blue color crystal, and one of the largest single crystals I've ever had for sale from Maine. The crystal is not complete on all sides, but still shows good hexagonal form in areas along with great blue color. I will say that the specimen does have rarely seen secondary crystal overgrowth on one of the pinacoids, which is not seen very often from Maine. I'm not calling this AQUAMARINE because the crystal has sections that are white, and the color is not truly indicative of AQUAMARINES from most places. Nonetheless, for a U.S. BLUE BERYL , this a big and dramatic specimen, especially from this classic area. Enjoy !! NO RESERVE !! Locality : Rattlesnake Mt., Stoneham, read more
