I have been asked to sell this old guitar and a very old banjo that have been in a local family since somew around 1900. I know nothing about musical instruments other than when my parents forced me to play the accordian when I was seven years old. So I present to you this very old Lyon & Healy Made in Chicago guitar that is really a nice looking instrument, but is missing the part that holds the strings onto the body. The neck is strong and straight, the wood is beautiful and appears to have wood inlay front and back as well as mother of pearl inlay along the neck. The hardware is very old at the top made of steel and brass. The manufacturer's name is stamped on the inside (I tried to get a photo of it but it is blurry). It is 37" tall and at it's base it is 12 3/4" across. The base is 4" deep. T are six positions for strings. T is a very thin and old stress crack that extends from the center whole in the body all the way to the pre-made hole in the bottom. it does not appear to be catastrophic, but again I know zilch about musical instruments. T are two very very thin stress lines in the lower back. The guitar base body and neck are very tight, not loose at all, and it is pretty dirty, I only wiped it down with a little highly concentrated Murphy's Oil Soap to get the years and years of dust off of it to be able to photograph. read more
