This is a late 19th century early 20th century northern plains shaman cerimonial mirror wand. It is in excellent condition and measures 36 1/4 by 10 7/8 inches. It is adorned with old brass tacks racoon hair tied off with old leather or rawhide. T old trade cloth tassels with tin cones at the end and horse hair streamers that are on the ends of the human form and one strand on the back. It is carved of wood in the shape of a human form and what is realy unusal is on the back t is old brass tacks depicting the differant star formations. The side of this wand is scalloped with old brass tacks and t is a mirror in the center set in with very fine pine tree branches. T are no chips or breaks in the wood and the wood has a beautiful old patina from age. The racoon hair around the handle part is all natural and very soft and it is in excellent condition with no tatering or stains. This is one of the most unusal pieces I have ever owned and it come with an original reciept dated 1901 and dating this wand in the 1890s from a North dakota museum. This is a great old piece and would look great in any 19th century american indian collection. I am always happy to combine shipping up to 5 days of end of auction. I try to describe items as best as I can and how I see them in what they represent both in condition and age. I dont use reserves to often because my items sell on their own merit.
