Unique Moghul Victorian 14kt gold 7ct Rose cut Diamond 3.5ct Emeralds earrings ! The period of the Mogul era had a great impact on jewelry designs & art of jewelry making that was practiced earlier by the skilled & famous Asian artisans. The Mogul emperors invited the Persian artisans who made world famous enameled silver articles, to train their craftsmen. For the first time, the Persian enameling skills were applied to make jewelry artifacts and this marked the begining of glorious era of enameled 18-23kt Mogul jewelry pieces ! These artisans of the Mogul era combined the sophisticated designs & techniques of the Persians with Indian motifs & colors to produce some of the finest examples of enameling anyw in the world ! These jewelry pieces had brilliant colored enamel on one side and floral patterns on the other, heavily garnished with magnificent hand-cut rose diamonds, rubies, emeralds & sapphires. After colonization of India by British India Company, the next generation of the artisans were asked to design and craft jewels for the rich & influential aristocratic royal British families. Though these pieces did have a typical influence of European Victorian jewelry designs but since these were made by the same artisans whose family made the Mogul jewelry, so these Victorian pieces were typical of being studded with exceptional precious colored gems, mostly emeralds, rubies & sapphires, enriching the over all look of the beautiful victorian designs ! Up for auction is a pair of rich, ornate 14kt victorian moghul earrings. These earrings feature, natural green emeralds, large flat table rose cut diamonds and smaller full rose cut diamonds. The larger flat table rose cut diamonds are about 3mm to 4mm in size, weigh a total of about 4.68 carats. On average, these earrings are studded with 16 diamonds in 0.30 carats size/weight. The smaller rose cut diamonds weigh about 2.3 carats. A total of about 7 carats in diamonds. The emeralds are 100% natural, un-treated & are as green & brilliant as you can imagine the real EMERALDS to be !!! With spotless green color & great clarity ! The emerald ovals are of size 6x4mm & 7x5mm and weigh a total of about 3.5 carats. Do your research & try to shop for a ring made around just a single emerald oval of such calibre !!! The earrings drop 3 inches long & weigh 14.2 grams. These were hand-crafted in mostly 14kt solid gold & silver around the diamonds. The links are thick & strong.
