I have seen lots of strops but this is quite strange? I looked up the pat date and found a picture of a similar unit by the same manufacture. Alexander Dey, Glasgow Scotland This one is marked "PATD SEP 11, 1888" and "DEY Patent Co, Syracuse, NY" . T is also some writing on the base that I can't make out. I don't have a straight razor to put into it, but you can see its use in the Pat drawing. You can look up the patent at: http://patft.uspto.gov/netahtml/PTO/srchnum.htm Enter the patent number 389291 then on the next page click on the "IMAGES" button Very interesting operation! I bet you don't have anything like this in your Straight Razor Collection? I NEVER MAKE "2 ND CHANCE OFFERS" on my items, I always relist them! So if you get an email for a "2 ND CHANCE OFFER", it is a SCAM and don't reply to it! NO International bids without prior approval !!!!!
