Hello! This is a beautiful, old, and very rare Barling estate pipe! It came from a large estate belonging to a retired Colonel in the United States Army. He bought the majority of his pipes in the 50's, 60's, and 70's. So this pipe has some age to it, which is good thing! That is when the best briar was available. I have never seen another Barling like this one! The grain beautiful! It has some lovely flame grain on both sides of the pipe stemming from the front. It is a magnificent piece of art! The color is deep and dark and it just feels wonderful in the hand. It is pretty small, which I particularly like. It is very light light which make it very easy and comfortable on the jaw. The nomenclature is pretty faded and reads: Barling over WASHINGTON DC over 90. THIS IS WHAT MAKES IT SO RARE! I have never seen or heard of a Barling pipe with this stamping. It very likely is a one of a kind! It is about 5.25 inches long and 1.75 inches tall. I have done some preliminary cleaning to it. I have reamed it out, run some high proof alcohol through it, and shinned it up a bit. I will leave the rest, if anything, to you as most pipe lovers like to do their own restorations.
