VINTAGE VERY RARE Hand Carved Ivory Blossom Parure Necklace and Bracelet Hawaiian Hanging Jade Flower Lei Delicate hand carved and constructed leis of the Hawaiian Hanging Jade blossoms. Each flower is carved to realistically mimic the jade flower plant. This is one of the plants that hung from our lychee tree when I was a child. When our mother was busy and my sister and I were tired of cutting out paper dolls she would give us some of her jewelry to string into leis so we would leave the real flowers alone. As you can see from the photos, this was rather rough going for the blossoms. I remember wanting to paint them different colors but mom put a quick end to that! Looking back I think we could have been more careful but stringing her jewelry was just as nice as stringing real flowers and we had to save those for real occasions hence we used mom's flowers! Some of the tips are broken off. I have provided many pictures so you can see the true condition which I think is not bad at all. Each flower measures aprox 1 & 3/4 inch x 3/4 inch. The depth of each blossom is aprox 8mm in the middle tapering down to 3mm at the sides.The lei necklace is 26 inches long with 41 blossoms and the bracelet has 15 blossoms. I have not cleaned this item. T are some age? spots and t as aged ivory sometimes shows. I cannot find the clasps anyw as they are strung on the cotton thread my mom gave us and who knows w they ended up! Photo# 9 best shows the true color. I have also included a picture of the real jade plant so you will know what it looks like and understand why I wanted to color the blossoms. Very beautiful plant! I am not as old as my mom who is 90+ but I am pretty old now (phooey) and I have never seen another one like it. She probably never thought twice about allowing us girls to use her things as she had a gentler outlook on life and was truely the old hawaiian style. These items have been hot pin tested and passed easily. These hold many sweet memories of my home and the life in the islands, Island Style. I do not have any idea if these are MING'S or not.
