This is a good size and very rare old wooden statue of Tai Pai Ching Hsing. He is one of the advisor to the Jade Emperor. However he is fond of wine that often led him into trouble. Often drunk, he would spy on heavenly maidens, then transformed himself into a handsome young man to seduce them. Celestial inquiry led to the discovery of his scandalous affair ! What a Heavenly D.O.M.! Often mistook for the Taoist founder, Lao Tze, he, however sits on a normal throne was Lao Tze sits on a Lotus Platform. This is the difference between the two. He is also the patron God to the wine makers.Throne's two dragon arm rests are detachable. Picture 3 shows the statue of Tai Pai Ching Hsing with its Chinese title in the front base( taken from a book - Chinese Gods) In condition as found, it measures approx. 13.5" height.
