Up for auction is a rare beautiful wall trunk with over 80 pieces of hardware all hand painted with gold leaf down to the tiniest nail. The top back hinges are dated Dec. 22, 1891. These hinges are specially designed for a wall trunk and had a written guarantee. The hinges would be replaced if they were broken or did not function properly. This guarantee was on the inside lid with manufacturers name, which was lost during restoration. The inside lid has a picture of a woman and a little girl. It has fourteen oak slates, which is five more than most trunks. T are five on the top and three on the front sides and back. The metal bands have been sanded and painted with black enamel. The handles have been replaced with new Amish made ones. Inside and out have been cleaned well and lightly sanded and has three coats of Minwax polyurethane. The lock is original and workable, and t is a key. The bottom is also in good condition and has been cleaned, sanded and painted. The trunk measures 36" long by 21 ½" wide by 24" high. This is a beautiful conversation piece and would make a great blanket chest, coffee table or storage for your valuables. Get it in time for Christmas.
