DESCRIPTION:
An exceptionally rare antique Chinese bowl glazed in a beautiful duck-egg blue Yingqing (Qingbai) glaze, dating to the Song dynasty (960 to 1127AD). This once had a hand-beaten silver band around the rim which although still evident has mostly worn away. Superb underglaze flower motifs are incised around the cavetto.

Comes in a fitted box.

SIZE:
185mm diameter (7.4 inches)

CONDITION:
Excellent condition. Rings like a bell. Expected wear and firing faults. Two short glaze cracks to the exterior which do not extend to the rim, or the otherside.

DATING:
Song dynasty (960 to 1127AD)

COMMENT:
A rare opportunity to purchase a remarkable Yingqing (Qingbai) bowl.
Yingqing (Qingbai) bowls with incised decorations can be found illustrated in many text books, and we have attached one such example from the publication "Song Ceramics" published in 1983 by the Southeast Asian Ceramics Society.

INSURANCE:
New Zealand Post does not insure antiques unless they are sent by their prohibitively expensive Courier Post. However, Allen's Antiques offers insured air post to a maximum cover of $US500, to the following countries: U.S.A., Canada, Australia, New Zealand. Any antique item sent by economy post is uninsurable, and at the buyer's risk.
If the combined cost of the item plus the postage/shipping exceeds $US500, then for the item to be insured, it must be sent by United Parcel Service. Items sent by United Parcel Service may be insured up to $US40,000.
Otherwise, insurance is optional, and if goods are sent uninsured, they are at the buyer's risk.

Insurance costs 3% (of the combined cost of the item, plus postage/shipping), with a minimum charge of $US5.50.
