VERY UNIQUE, EARLY 1900'S HAND-MADE QUILT VERY INTERESTING FABRICS AND PENANTS USED IN DESIGN Purchased in New York City, couldn't resist the unique way this quilt was constructed or the variety of materials used, which must have meant something to the original owner/maker. T are several pieces of fabric on the top that are damaged, very worn or torn, and could be replaced or repaired or left as is for authentic display. The back is in much better condition Much of the quilt is made from a wool fabric, some velvet, some fur, some silk, some cotton, some felt penants, two that are an advertising for Peacock Creamery Ice Cream, Fennimore, Wisconsin, a penant for the Chicago Bears (really old), one that says WhiteWater, one that says Wisconsin, and an orange one that has the numbers 7-8-9-10 and the year 1915 (which led me to believe this quilt was made 80 or 90 years ago), and perhaps some pieces of clothing. The quilt is not lined. The back is a variety of small to medium squares, same variety of fabrics. Hand stitched, with a thicker red thread or yarn used to edge the top and to tie the top and bottom pieces together. Truly a rare piece for display or to add to any collection. The front of the quilt has approximately 200 pieces, 17 pieces that are damaged, most of them silk, and some stitching that has come loose. The back read more
