Anton Wingen Jr. has always been one of my favorite Solingen makers and I have collected their knives for years. Anton Wingen Jr. ceased operations and closed their doors in the early 1990's. However, for nearly 120 years they were one of Solingen's finest makers and produced some knives of incredible quality. This is one of the most unusual Wingen knives I've owned. Even though I've collected Wingen knives for years, I have never seen this model before and have been unable to find it in their catalogs. Given the blade etch and box style, I would guess that this was one of their later pieces made shortly before they closed their operation. It could even be a design that was not released. Though unlikely, that is a possibilty. The knife has never been used, carried, or sharpened and is near perfect condition. The lone minor detractions are the slightest bit of wiggle to the guard and a bit of tarnish on the guard. The blade is a very unique design for a Wingen knife. It's polished to a mirror finish and is flawless. The stag is gorgeous and is very thick. The handle is nicely shaped and really fills out the hand. The pommel nut has never been fooled with and is completely flush with the pommel. The thick blade measures 3-7/8" in length, while the knife is 8-1/8" in overall length.
